Synopsis
" Every Ship has a Story " is a eight-minute animated short film that, through the humor and wisdom of the Black-faced Spoonbill siblings, interweaves the life stories of three vessels to showcase the diverse facets of Taiwan’s maritime culture.
The design concept centers on the imagery of “boats”:
Uncle Fire, the fire-fishing boat symbolizes the wisdom of ancient fisheries and cultural heritage.
Big Sis Fu, the whale-watching boat, represents the transformation of fisheries into eco-tourism and marine education.
The container ship Kuei carries Taiwan’s pride as a technology island and its mission in global trade.
Together, they construct a hopeful vision of maritime culture.
The art direction emphasizes the flow of time and color: the sparkling firelight at night, the surging Kuroshio current by day, and the golden-red wetlands at sunset—all symbolizing cultural continuity and the cycle of life.
The Black-faced Spoonbill siblings, with their knowledge, humor, and innocence, guide audiences to understand profound issues in a lighthearted atmosphere. This work is not merely a story, but a cultural-educational journey that calls on people to cherish the ocean, allowing economy, culture, and nature to coexist in harmony.
