Synopsis
MACHLI
In the wild heart of Ranthambore, a mother’s love is about to face its greatest test.
Two Bengal tiger cubs cautiously approach the muddy banks of Rajbagh Lake to drink, unaware that a gigantic mugger crocodile is silently stalking them beneath the murky water. When the crocodile suddenly erupts from the lake, the terrified cubs are trapped on the steep riverbank, with nowhere to escape.
Just as the predator prepares to strike, their mother, Machli, charges into the confrontation, placing herself between her cubs and the enormous crocodile. What follows is a brutal and desperate battle between two apex predators. Machli fights with everything she has, but the crocodile's immense strength pulls her into the water, where the struggle becomes even more dangerous.
The battle appears to be over when Machli emerges from the lake, seemingly victorious. But the crocodile launches one final ambush, clamping its powerful jaws around her neck and holding her captive. As her cubs watch helplessly from the riverbank, Machli appears to be facing certain death.
The story then returns to the present.
Driven by the instinct to protect her young, Machli summons every ounce of her remaining strength. She tears herself free and launches one final, ferocious attack. Wounded and bleeding, she continues fighting despite unbearable pain. In the struggle, she loses two of her canine teeth—but refuses to surrender.
With a final burst of courage, Machli defeats the gigantic mugger crocodile.
Exhausted and injured, she calls her cubs. They run toward their mother, and the three disappear into the wilderness together.
Later, as the golden evening light settles over Ranthambore, Machli sits atop the ancient ruins of Rajbagh Fort with her two cubs beside her. Wounded but victorious, she looks across the forest that she has fought so fiercely to protect.
Her scars become a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and motherhood.
The film closes with the words:
“A mother is a mother, no matter what animal she is.”
The credits then reveal the extraordinary real-life legacy of Machli—the legendary tigress of Ranthambore whose life, courage, and remarkable achievements made her one of the most celebrated wild tigers in history.
MACHLI is ultimately not just a story about a fight between a tiger and a crocodile. It is a story about the primal force of a mother's love—and how, in the wild, that love can turn an ordinary mother into a legend.
