NENA (The Voice) Before It Disappears

"Nena" (The Voice) is an intimate, poetic documentary with English and Turkish subtitles that follows the director's personal quest to rediscover her roots and protect a fading heritage. Just like the restless waves of the Black Sea, the Lazuri language ebbs and flows through time—often misunderstood merely as a regional dialect, whereas it is a distinct language with its own unique rules, history, and soul. Through heartfelt regional interviews, local landscapes, and deeply personal storytelling, the project serves as an essential archival effort to gather and preserve the voices of a culture before they are lost to time.
