Synopsis
In this Malaysian episode of "Students of the World", two students guide us through their everyday lives — entirely in their own words.
Adam attends the historic Penang Free School in Penang. He takes us into his classrooms, onto the school grounds, and into conversations with friends. He speaks about his interests, his routines, and what school means to him personally — the subjects he enjoys, the expectations he feels, and the goals he sets for himself.
Renee lives in Balik Pulau, on the other side of the island. She shows us her school, her home, and the places that shape her daily life. She talks about friendships, family, and the small details that make her days unique — from lessons in class to time spent outdoors.
There is no narrator and no external commentary. Adam and Renee introduce their worlds themselves, moving between school and home, between quiet moments and lively interactions. Their perspectives stand side by side, offering two personal stories from the same region.
The film observes rather than explains. It allows space for individuality, everyday routines, and the simple fact that each child experiences school in their own way. Through their voices alone, the episode becomes an intimate portrait of growing up and learning in Malaysia today.
Students of the World is an international educational project in which we show students around the world in their every day lives to foster a better understanding for the cultures in our divers world. Every documentary stands for it self, but within a bigger project.
