Thenmavu (Sweet mango tree)

"Thenmavu" (The Sweet Mango Tree) is a ten-year-old boy’s journey into the literary universe of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.
Overwhelmed by fear of everything around him, the boy decides to drop out of school. Seeing this, his teacher gives him Basheer’s work to read. From the haunting fear of having no one by his side, the child grows into the comforting strength of realizing that the entire living universe stands with him.
The bond between the teacher and the student evolves into a profound, spiritual connection—mirroring the boundless love found in Basheer’s writings. As Basheer and his characters step in to keep the boy company, the boundaries between fiction and reality dissolve, leaving truth and imagination beautifully intertwined.
Basheer’s stories expand the child’s ecological awareness to the scale of the universe itself.
